david & lillian – melbourne wedding photos

This gorgeous couple got married on Grand Final day here in Melbourne- and typically the weather was crazy! Hail, winds and heavy rain were predicted. We did really well to miss most of it and remained dry! The ceremony was at St John’s in Toorak and the reception was held at the beautiful Butleigh Wooton in Hawthorn. David and Lillian were a lot of fun and we all had a fabulous day!

Tom and Kylie- engagement photos!

i know- we have had quite a few engagements lately- there is lots of love blooming! I promise to catch up with some weddings soon…

Meet Tom and Kylie. What a couple! They came down from Benalla for their engagement photo shoot and we had a great time! They are getting married up in Echuca in June and I can’t wait- it’s going to be very laid back and lots of fun!

david and lillian- engaged!

Aren’t this guys just so cute and in love?!?

We shot these pics right here at the Essendon Airport with the DC3 Melbourne’s Gooney Bird- as David is a real aviation buff and Lillian organised this especially which was just lovely.

They are gettiing married in less than 2 weeks and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Enjoy!

Elise.

Shaun, Karen, Kirra & Jed

What a wonderful little family. I photographed Shaun and Karen’s wedding a few years ago and it’s a real honour to watch and record as their family has grown. It’s one of the many great things about being a photographer. I’m already looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks guys!

aaron & sarah’s wedding

I have been meaning to post this gorgeous autumn wedding for some time- as I really wanted to share it with you.

The whole wedding was held at The Grange at Cleveland Winery in Lancefield- around an hour from Melbourne and just 5 mins from our place in Romsey- (bonus!). It is a breathtaking location and the photos speak for themselves.

Sarah was really into all the small details of the wedding and it really showed. Her stunning satin gown was from Linda Gorringe Couture and the bridesmaids were each dressed in black but in different styles to suit each of them- great idea for bridesmaid of varied body shapes. She sourced seperate bonboniere’s for guests on the tables and had a bespoke cake topper made of the couple riding on Aarom’s motorbike. It was a huge hit with the guests- especially the boys who couldn’t get over how exact it was!

Enjoy! Elise. xo

pop on over…..

If you haven’t visited The Boudoir Boutique Blog lately- here’s just a taste on what you’re missing!

And yes- I was up late last night stitching Nathan’s new blanket!

Big congrats to Mark, Jacqui, Clayton and Hayley and I look forward to lots more cuddles with Nathan in the future.

john & carly’s wedding

Wow- here is a stunner for you. Held at one of my favourite places- Sault Restaurant in Daylesford. Carly and John we married under the gum trees by the lavender on a beautiful day. It was very romantic with elegant styling. As you can see Carly’s bridesmaid wore a gorgeous lilac colour and this was carried through the theme. I loved the candy with words on them!

Enjoy,

Elise xo.

steve & erin part 2

Ok- back to Steve and Erin’s gorgeous wedding.

These guys had so many great tips from their wedding you could all share:

  • Instead of getting ready at home- Erin chose to get ready at the most beautiful place ever.  The Coachman’s Quarters in East Melbourne. She chose it because it was gorgeous and she new the pics would be stunning- and you can see that they are! We just looooved shooting there. You could also choose a place that is not your home to get ready at- think about the fab pics you could get.
  • Instead of name tags on the tables- each menu was printed with the guest’s name on top.
  • Steve and Erin wrote and recited their own wedding vows which was really personal and beautiful.
  • The ceremony and reception was held at the wonderful Ballara Receptions in Eltham. It is a fab venue for photos however we also made time to drive down the road to Swipers Gully Vineyard for a few different pics. It was good to be able to break away from the guests even for a short amount of time so the bridal party could relax and hang out with each other.
  • Steve and Erin were SUPER prepared and made a sign with “Thankyou” written on it so that when we were at the vineyard we took some shots with them and sign. As you can see- they used these pics for personalised Thankyou cards which we offer and sent them out to guests after the wedding. I heard they were a big hit. A simple yet very effective idea.

Enjoy!

it’s getting closer…..

something very exciting is coming……

….and here is just a sneak peak……

I have a new secret passion……….

Isn’t it wonderful? I didn’t have a wedding to shoot on the weekend- so I just went for it. I sewed until my machine literally ran out of thread for the first time since I got it for Christmas.

People often ask me where I get inspiration- this is just one example of it. I fell in love this fabric when I first saw it and I just had to own it. Moda produces the range in a Jelly Rollcalled “Recipe for Friendship”. I actually bought this in a great quilting shop in Echuca called Heather’s Quliting Emporium- which I have since found out also stock Amy Butler fabric- another secret new passion of mine….

I know there’s not much of a link between fabric & sewing- and photography- however colour effects a huge amount of how I shoot and it’s the colour in fabric that really moves me. I think inspiration comes from lots of different places and if it’s something that excites you – then it can’t be bad hey? Go for it.

I will share some more pics when I am further along..

Elise xo.

steve and erin- part 1!

Wow- I have two words for this wedding- JUST STUNNING!

There are so many fab pics from this day that I am dividing into 2 posts. Here are some pics to get you started and in Part 2 I will share more pics and also some fabulous tips to steal from Steve and Erin’s gorgeous day- including this fabulous B&B in Melbourne where Erin got ready.

Enjoy!

Edgar’s birthday!!

Last week I was lucky enough to visit the amazing Edgar’s Mission in Willowmavin.

Elise asked me to take some photographs of the gorgeous Edgar for his sixth birthday- his birthday party is being celebrated at Edgar’s Mission this Sunday 19th April and it will be a brilliant day out. Just go to Edgar’s Mission for more details.

Elise warned me his size was very hard to capture in a photograph… she wasnt kidding! He was absolutely HUGE!!!

When I arrived, Pam had to wake Edgar up (which is a mission in itself) then we had to coax him out of his sleeping quarters with his favourite snack, grapes.

After a few shots with his shiny party hats we gave him a birthday cake and he very quickly ate it all in two bites.

After all the fuss, we let Edgar get back to sleeping and Pam showed me around the farm and I met some of the beautiful animals she cares for. It s amazing how friendly animals are when they are treated well and loved every day.

help out easter bunny…..

Introducing Hamlet the gorgeous bunny I met last week at Edgar’s Mission. I was out there to photograph Edgar which I will be posting about very soon- but whilst I was there this little guy grabbed at my heart strings.

What a great introduction to blogging to have to post about something so close to my heart.

Hamlet is a Mini Lop-Eared Rabbit (of which I have had two as family pets) and he is being looked after by Pam on behalf of the local pound. Hes currently looking for a new home and someone to love him.

Apart from my own bunny, Ive never met a rabbit who wants as many cuddles and smooches as this little guy. If anyone is interested or knows of a family looking for the perfect pet, you can contact Pam at Edgar’s Mission on 0408 397 301.

If I had a backyard, I’d be taking him home with me!!

Perfect timing for Easter.

meet edward the elephant!

Yay- my first ever softie! I’m very excited.

Late last year I decided I needed a hobby so I thought sewing might be good for me. I started first with some very basic sewing lessons at the The Thread Den which opened my eyes to a whole new world. The ladies there were so great to deal with and answered all my very basic and quite silly questions. I then found a Jelly Roll of awesome material which I couldn’t resist buying so that set me on track to do my first ever quilt. I received a sewing machine for Christmas and was off and running. My quilt is well on the way and I will share some pics of the progress soon.

I then went to the Australian Quilt Covention with my Mum - I never thought I would actually really enjoy it- and had a great day! That’s where I saw Pheobe the elephant- a pattern developed by Melly and Me and I knew I had to have it. I decided I would make him male- hence “Edward” and found some absolutely gorgeous Amy Butler fabrics to make his body from. He is a very modern male elephant- epsecially with his red toe nails!

It was a fun project and I enjoyed it greatly. Mind you- he wasn’t made with much talent and some of the stitching is quite terrible- however he was made with very much love. He is now off to his new home in Wangaratta with baby Max B.

Enjoy!

rach and rich’s wedding

stunning”

Rach

It was such a great wedding- here are just a few things about it I loved which you can steal for your own wedding:

  • Colour, colour colour!! Don’t be scared of colour- used correctly it can really add a huge WOW factor to your wedding. Rach didn’t wear white or cream- she wore a fabulous burnt orange and it looked amazing! Her bridesmaids were dressed in classic black which made her dress pop even more. Her Mum also did her gorgeous bright and colourful flowers- they looked so beautiful against the dress.
  • The ceremony was held at the stunning Rippon Lea and we shot all of their photos in around around the gardens afterwards- it’s such a beautiful spot for pics- check out the grey tree- it’s incredible.
  • The reception was held at Rich’s parent palce in Sandringham- a backyard was turned into a tropical oasis after many months of hard work (sweat and tears!). It was all worth it though because it looked great and it atmosphere was jumping. The cocktail bar helped too!! Perhaps it was better that I wasn’t there to cover the entire reception at the rate the cocktails were levaing the bar…
  • It was such a fun, vibrant yet relaxed and casual wedding. Well done you guys!

baby molika….. just 10 days old

Here is Molika- she is the gorgeous new addition of very good friends of ours Amit & Lay.

She is just beautiful- congratulations guys!

All our friend are having babies- there must be something in the water….

Cluck Cluck,

baby isabella…..

This is my beautiful niece Isabella- growing up very quickly!

Here is a great shot taken with Isabella and her father. He is 6ft 7- hence the big feet!

david & deanna 5th december 2008

This is quite a timely wedding to post. David and Deanna held their wedding ceremony and reception at Stones of the Yarra Valley. One of the most stunning venues I have had the privilege to photograph. Stones was surrounded by the bushfires which have ravaged out state- however it has remained untouched than goodness!

This wedding was classic and elegant.  The ceremony was held in the beautiful chapel and we took all their photos on location at Stones- there really was no need to go anywhere else.

Ideas to steal from Deanna and David’s wedding:

  • Don’t you just love the chocolates with love phrases on them? I’m not sure where Deanna got her hands on them- however she travels OS for work regularly so they may not be available locally.
  • The wedding was held on a Friday- which has been becoming a more popular choice in the last couple of years- it give guests a long weekend and often gives more choice of suppliers and their availability.
  • Deanna and David chose not to have a bridal party- and from being at their reception I think it’s just because they had way too many friends to choose from! If this is your dilemma- it’s a great solution. I would suggest you still choose a couple of girlfriends to help you get ready at home so they can help and also assure you of how gorgeous you look before your wedding!
  • Banquet style seating – as opposed to round tables – was used at the reception and once again- it was a real hit and looked incredible.

personal note….

Bushfires continue to burn across our beautiful state as the deathtoll rises and information on the property losses unfold before me I feel more and more upset. Kilmore is a town only 20 mins from where we live in Romsey and if the wind was blowing the other direction we may have ended up under threat from that devastating bushfire.  I am watching the tv through streaming tears and am so thankful for everything that I have.

I photographed a wedding in Shepparton on Saturday, it was 48 deg and like walking through a furnace- that wasn’t even anywhere near the bushfires. Jodi and Clint- you are a wonderful couple and my thoughts also go out to you both because I feel your wedding anniversary will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

After the wedding I couldn’t get  home Saturday night so thanks also to my brother James, Kate and Isbella for putting me up for the night! I was very pleased to get home safely Sunday morning and lots of cuddles for my husband Alistair and dogs Milo & Sweep.

From all the staff here at Elise Gow Photography our thoughts go out to all those affected by this tragedy.

matt & sheena 29th november 2008

Still 2008- I know- I’m still catching up- I will get on top of it one day! Lots of fab weddings coming…

Matt & Sheena got married at the gorgeous Grange at Cleveland Winery in Lancefield. It’s such a beautiful venue in the Macedon Ranges about an hour from Melbourne. There is an amazing old homestead, rows of vines, colourful gardens and stunning views of the ranges. It was a fabulous day- these guys are so cute!

Great ideas to steal from Matt & Sheena’s wedding:

  • Want money instead of gifts from your guests but not sure how to ask for it? Check out the cute and quirky poem Matt & Sheena used and attached to envelopes which were all popped into a wishing well at the reception.
  • A stack of blank cds in stamped self-addressed envelopes was placed on a table at the reception asking guests to download any photos they have snapped from the wedding and send back to Matt & Sheena.
  • Having their ceremony and reception in the one spot meant more time with their guests- if you want to do this- make sure it’s a location that offers great photo opportunities so lots of great images can be taken in a short amount of time.

this is what it’s all about….

I received this in the post today and it has made my day. Thanks to you Julie and Tim- you are too precious!

steve & kasey november 28th 2008

Whoa- still only up to November! Not going sooo well with my New Years Reso’s so far but will try and get back into full swing next week for a catch up.

Steve and Kasey’s gorgeous wedding and reception was held in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. Kasey works for the fabulous catering company Blake’s Feast so needless to say the food was exquisite! The day was filled with lots of love and laughter. I shot this wedding together with our studio manager and photographer Verity Stubbs and we both got some amazing shots. These two were completely at ease, happy and obviously so in love.

Great ideas to steal from Steve and Kasey’s wedding:

  • The simple use of off white and black with Kasey’s dress and her bridesmaid gave the wedding a very classic look.
  • It did rain in patches through the day – so clear plastic umbrellas were on hand for the guests which looked fantastic as well as being practical.
  • The reception had banquet style seating made up of really long tables of guests- this was a really great idea and looked fabulous!
  • The menu was posted as a huge display board rather than on the tables. The board is now proudly hanging in Steve and Kasey’s dining room which is a great talking point for when guests come around.
  • The bonboniere were actual small jars of condiments of each of there favourite foods which were actual made by Kasey together with her Mum and Grandmother. “Steve’s Perfect O” was special onion jam and “Sweet Kasey” was a sweet chilly sauce

Enjoy!

Elise

ainslie & stella

Yay- sticking to my resolutions so far- mind you- it’s only day 2!

These little girls were so delightful. We had so much fun taking photos at their home- I really could have stayed all day. Ainslie stole the limelight a little as she was the one who could run around the garden,  climbing gates whilst Stella had just learned to sit up and she was doing a great job at that! I am already looking forward to getting some more photos of the girls when they can run around together.

cameron & raelee 22nd november 2008

Well- what a gorgeous couple. The weather didn’t quite match this beautiful bride and handsome groom- or indeed this time of year- it was only around 10 degreees and raining, windy and nightmarish! Lucky these guys chose to get ready at home together and they had great house with lots of natural light streaming in- which keep us all dry and warm!

The ceremony & reception was held at The Boathouse Cafe in Maribyrnong- what a great spot! Plans were to have the ceremony on the deck but due to the weather it was inside and the fire was on. It was a very cosy lovely and relaxed atmosphere with a cocktail style reception to follow.

They chose the two Mums for thier witnesses- I just love this moment.

I then suggested we brave it and take a quick walk outside for a few snaps- but as you can see we lasted about 2 minutes- if that!

my new year’s blog resolutions…

  • Update this blog with more posts more often
  • Share even more handy hints and tips for our brides to be
  • Post some personal pics of mine including our travel photos and pups Milo & Sweep
  • Share some blogs from around the world which inspire me every day
  • Post more of our portrait shoots- of which we shot a heap before Christmas which I will catch up on this month

Ok- these are big promises but I am really going to go for it in 2009!

We also have some exciting new ventures and products to share so I will post them as they also come along.

Enjoy!

chris & jennifer 21st november 2008

Wow- a little behind in blogging all the weddings we have been shooting because of Christmas madness! Sorry- getting on top of things over my ‘break’. Lots of wonderful weddings to share.

This is Chris & Jennifer’s wedding. Stunning! This couple were so wonderfully happy- in love- gorgeous- everything-you name it. Chris is Canadian and has made a new life here in Oz with Jen. His family came over for the wedding – it was all very emotional and I just love emotional weddings! They were married at a church in Prahran and reception was at the beautiful Rippon Lea. We had loads of fun and got some great shots. I love also the special relationship between Jen and her Dad- very cute. He smiled all day long. Chris & Jen are currently honeymooning in Africa- lucky things hey? Enjoy!

The fabulous inside location shots were taken at Dinos Deli Bar & Cafe in Chapel St Prahran.

meet my lovely new niece isabella…. just 1 day old

Here she is with proud new Dad Jim- who also happens to be my brother. How gorgeous is she?

Cluck cluck cluck….I nearly couldn’t give her back.

Congrats to both Jim & Kate- may she fill your world with lots of love and giggles!

david & lauren 15th november 2008

Off to Daylesford for another beautiful country wedding - this time at the gorgeous Convent Gallery- a fab location for a great wedding and wonderful photos. David & Lauren were married in the sweet chapel and guests joined them for the reception all in the one spot. We popped down to Lake Daylesford for some stunning pics too- the lake always looks great.

Told you it was a gorgeous spot!

I just love this special moment with their parents!

This is my favourite!

Message Tree- what a great idea! Don’t you love these words of wisdom?!

What a great way to finish..

clay & breanna 8th november 2008

Another country wedding- this time a trip to gorgeous Echuca/Moama. A very popular place for weddings and absolutely fabulous for photos. I’m also a little biased as my husband and I got married there 5 years ago!

Clay and Breanna were such a cute couple. Very relaxed and down to earth. Guests helped them celebrate a fantastic day full of love and laughter. The ceremony and reception were held at the stunning Morrisons Winery in Moama so we grabbed some shots in the vineyard first then we took a trip down the Murray River and old Echuca Port Area for more photos. These guys were keen on some beautiful big blue sky photos and finally the grey cleared when we were finishing up so I could deliver! Great day all round.

something a bit different..

something a bit different..

Moama has some of the most wonderful sunsets ever- this one didn't disappoint!

Moama has some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen- and this one didn’t disappoint.

andrew & kate 1st november 2008

Yet another gorgeous wedding to share with you. This wedding was shot by myself and new photographer/studio manager/saviour Verity Stubbs who I am thrilled to have on board- welcome Verity!

Kate and Andrew had their wedding at The Willows in Melbourne. It was recently renovated and now looks AMAZING! It looked great before however now it really is one of the most stunning venues in Melbourne. The photo opportunities were fabulous.

The wedding was full of lots of love and laughter- these guys were so relaxed and just so happy. It shows in the pics. Their family is very important to them- hence the kids on the cake- I just love that idea!

new cards..

Check out these new gorgeous personalised cards! They can be wedding thankyou cards, engagement announcements, birth announements, Christmas cards- whatever you like! They are made from crisp white linen- giving a timeless classic look. Our brides especially love them! Just choose your favourite pic from our photo shoot and they come to you all ready to write on. Too easy and too cute!

tim & kylie 18th october 2008

Don’t you just love country weddings? I do! Kylie and Tim had their wedding in gorgeous Marysville. What a cute little town- so picturesque! The church was a great little wooden building with so much character. We then took some fabulous photos out on location of the bridal party with the stunning scenery everywhere we looked. The reception was held on Kylie’s Dad property just out of town. Guests enjoyed pre dinner drinks on their own private island before heading over to the main marquee for rest part of the evening. Everything was perfect and this couple were so happy, so in love and so kind and welcoming to me. Thanks guys.xo.

I love the vows that Tim wrote on his hand so he didn’t forget them!

jason & catherine 11th october 2008 part 2

Finally getting on top of this new look blog so over the next few weeks I will be catching up with all the gorgeous weddings we have been shooting lately. This is the second installment of Cath & Jason’s wedding. Cath has impeccable taste which flowed through every little detail of their day. One of the best ideas I have seen at any wedding so far was the framed pics of their ancestors- clearly labelled with the names and dates of when they were married. It was a beautiful personal touch and a real talking point amongst the guests.

The wedding was held at gorgeous Sault Restaurant in Daylesford. Beautiful flowers were from Whitemoss in Melbourne, Cath’s stunning gown was from Marianna Hardwick, Cath’s shoes were Kate Spade New York.

jason & catherine 11th october 2008 – part 1
